Zsuzsa Piskóti-Kovács PhD gave a presentation at the second capacity building event of CINTRAN Territorial Just Transition Plans, in Process and in Practice . The webinar focused on Territorial Just Transition Plans (TJTP). The webinar presented experiences and lessons learned from three European regions and provided tips to ensure that these documents are indeed actively guiding just transitions.
The Territorial Just Transition Plans were introduced as a precondition for the EU’s Just Transition Fund, but in practice they are not just a means to an end. Territorial plans present the challenges facing a region and the development needs and objectives to be met by 2030. The approval of territorial plans for a just transition paves the way for targeted funding under the other two pillars of the just transition mechanism.
In Hungary, three counties are eligible to draw down funds from the Just Transition Fund, and the Secretariat of the Coal Commission Secretariat of Eszterházy Károly University is actively involved in the preparation of the Territorial Just Transition Plans of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Heves counties within the LIFE IP North-HU-Trans project.
